Anotace

The lecture deals with aspects of media changes and media developments that took place in the late medieval and early modern periods. The invention of the printing press in the fifteenth century did not cause a sudden end of the Middle Ages’ manuscript culture. As will be shown by examples from northern Europe, the new technique of printing books lead to a co-existence and simultaneity of different media that continued up to the modern period.
