Gabriella Rava

(*1991) is a PhD student in Semiotics and Philosophy of communication at Charles University, Prague. She graduated in “Comparative Studies” at the university of Turin, Italy, in 2017 with a thesis about the possible relationship between some fantastic short stories of the writers Borges, Calvino and Cortázar and the paradigm of the contemporary science, in a multidisciplinary context and approach. The doctoral thesis on which she is actually working on concerns some political elements, particularly flags and murals, in the present-day Northern Ireland, analyzed through a semiotics perspective, involving the semiotics of culture and the visual semiotics. Her main research interests are connected with visual culture, the concept of ideology and the fields of heritage and memory studies.
